The Golden Jubilee Year!
The Golden Jubilee year of College began with a prayer service in the St. Joseph's chapel on July 2nd 2008, the day the college was started by the Sisters of St. Joseph headed by Rev.Sr.Therese Marie, the moving spirit behind the college.
The roof of the Main building of the college is being renovated so the campus is full of construction materials and the classes are being held all over the college.
In August the college was designated as the Partner Institution by Indira Gandhi National Open University and has begun to offer about 16 courses in the Distance Education mode. The response from the public of Visakhapatnam has been very good and more than 100 have enrolled in the course for the July Session. Thus the college has embarked on the Convergence Scheme of combining Conventional mode of education with the Open University mode.
On 1 st August, the college organized the UGC sponsored Regional Conference entitled "Women in Science" to discuss the strategies that can be used to promote entry of greater numbers of women into the science career. Eminent women scientists like Dr Mehtab Bhamji, Dr. Rohini, Dr Sarala and several others interacted with more than 100 delegates from all over Andhra and made the conference a great success.
On 2nd and 3rd September the UGC National Workshop on :Sustainable Development:Rethinking Environment Initiatives" was conducted in the college campus with 250 participants from all over the country. In this connection, an Exhibition Van of the AP Pollution Board "Mana Ratham" was parked in the campus and open to the public to develop awareness about environment conservation. The college also organised an exhibition to develop awareness and educate the public on various issues related to environment. The Workshop and the exhibition were well received and appreciated by one and all.
In the third week of September the Forum for Free Enterprise will be conducting a two-day seminar for the final year students on various aspects of personality development and self improvement.
The college is now getting ready to welcome the Peer Team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council which will be visiting the college in the last week of September to assess the college for the process of reaccreditation.
